Website evaluation

Main article: Evaluation of Virginia county websites

The good

  • Contact information for elected county officials[1] is available.
  • County board meeting dates, agendas and minutes for the current and previous year are posted.[2]
  • Budgets,[3] audits and comprehensive annual financial reports[4] for current and previous years are available.
  • The county's website includes a link[5] to the in the Virginia Association of Counties,[6] of which it is a member.
  • County taxes can be paid online.[7]

The bad

  • There is contact information for only some individual county administrative officials.[8]
  • Current bid requests[9] and award notices[10] are posted. However, a list of current contracts is only available upon request.[11]
  • Information about how to make FOIA requests is available,[12] but there appears to be no record of the county's FOIA compliance.
