Issue positions

On her website Nikkel lists a number of her positions, including:[1]

  • FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY IN GOVERNMENT - "People should not be burdened with excessive taxation - and especially not during hard economic times. Nor should “fees” be added into legislation as a means of getting around TABOR. Fees which taxpayers must pay, should actually go towards services rendered by the department - not other unrelated 'programs.'"
  • FAMILY - "I will work to implement policies that keep families strong because families are the very foundation of society. I will also work to ensure that everyone enjoys life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - for everyone from the unborn to to our senior citizens."
  • HEALTHCARE - "I do not support the President or Congress’ plan to nationalize healthcare." "Instead we need to work on tort reform to help with out of control lawsuits that need to be capped and we need to allow people to shop around, across state lines to get health care plans that fits their needs. Insurance companies should be able to provide coverage that is varied to fit the needs of people."
  • EDUCATION - "I believe in supporting public education as well as charter and home schools. Children are not all alike and it is important to tailor educational needs according to the individual needs of children."
