California county election websites vary in the extent of information they make available to the public about local ballot measures. 8 counties, or 14% of California's 58 counties, provide no historical election results at all for local ballot measures (as of early 2010), while tiny Shasta County's website provides information about local ballot measures going back to 1970.

Historical information analysis

Ballotpedia:WikiProject Original Content
  • The extent to which county election websites display historical information is un-related to the population or budget of the county. Two small counties, Shasta and Tulare, have the most historical information.
  • 32 counties provide historical information only for the last decade.
  • 18 counties provide pre-2000 information.
  • 8 counties provide no historical information.
  • 13 counties have information that only goes back as far as 2005. Taking these counties together with those counties with no information, 21 counties (or 36% of California's county websites) provide either no information or only very recent information about local ballot measures.
