Originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin, Springer attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she studyed political science and sociology with a Pre-Law emphasis. In addition to contributing to Ballotpedia, she works part-time at the public library in La Crosse.

Previous work on Ballotpedia focused on a historical review of ballot measures from 1960-2010, and a historical review of all ballot measures in Washington from 1900-2011.
