Ballotpedia:Spring 2011 Internship Program (ballot measures)

The Ballot Measure Project on Ballotpedia is looking for four spring interns for the Spring 2011 semester.
Internships are open to current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates.
The internship is unpaid. As an intern, you can work remotely and structure the hours around your best schedule. There is a minimum expectation of 10 hours per week.
Although previous interns at Ballotpedia have successfully earned academic credit for their work with us, the potential for you to earn academic credit is not a requirement of this internship.
Dates
The internship is for 12 weeks, from Monday, January 24 to Friday, April 14. Interns must be available to work at least 10 of the 12 weeks, including the first two weeks.
The work
Interns will expand and build profiles on state ballot measure activists, donors and organizations. Additionally, interns will help launch a campaign finance project that features ballot measure specific and statewide donations.
Interns will learn about online research, analysis and writing. They will become familiar with state initiative and referendum laws; organizations and activists; and campaign finance laws.
Throughout the internship there will be the opportunity to write original research articles. (Example of original research)
Project director
Interns will work under the direction of Bailey Ludlam, who heads the ballot measure project on Ballotpedia. Ludlam is the author or co-author of a number of original research articles about ballot measures.
Work environment
This internship is a remote program. In other words, interns can work from wherever they have internet access -- be it a library or a dorm room or coffee house of preference. Interns will be required to log their hours and report regularly to their supervisor. Interns will be considered part of the "Ballot Measure team" and may be asked to join conference calls or webinars.
