WikiProject State Ballot Measures exists in order to organize work and projects to expand, improve and enhance the information on Ballotpedia about statewide ballot measures.

It has several subprojects:

There's an independent but very relevant project:

Goal

The goal of the project is to have:
  • A high-quality, very informative article for every statewide ballot measure that has ever been on a statewide ballot anywhere in the United States.
  • A summary article, by year, of all statewide ballot measures on the ballot anywhere in the United States that year. Example: 2008 ballot measures.
  • A summary article, by topic, of all statewide ballot measures that relate to a particular political topic. Example: Transportation initiatives.
  • A summary article, by year/state, of all statewide ballot measures on the ballot in a certain year/state (such as Arizona 2006 ballot measures).

Writing guidelines

To-do lists

Because this is overall a very big project, there are separate to-do lists based on the subproject as well as some general to-do lists which appear here.

  • General to-do list:

Analysis projects

This section highlights project ideas that are still pending. In other words, these projects have been tested in one state and can be replicated in various states or they have been started and still have yet to be completed.

If you plan to upload images that relate to the State Ballot Measures project...

Ballotpedia:WikiProject Images

For example, images of:

  • campaign logos
  • maps
  • graphs
  • documents
  • ballot measure activists

... or if you need help identify appropriate categories for such images, go here for more details.

For specific guidelines on copyright or image permissions, visit the Images project page.

Articles that need updating

See also: Articles to improve

As the project develops, some pages may be rapidly created and may need to be revisited at a later point. For more on articles that are missing components or may need improvement, click here.

Project templates

There are some basic templates in use in the project; these include:

  • Template:User WikiProject State Ballot Measures. This is a user participation badge (see below) which any editors/contributors to this project are encouraged to place on their user page.
  • {{WikiProject State Ballot Measures}} is a template that should be placed on the Help:Talk page|"talk" or "discussion" page associated with any articles in the project. That identifies the article as belonging to this project and makes it easier to organize the project. {Note that articles can belong to more than one WikiProject.) The shortcut is {{sbm}}
  • Each of the four main subprojects will have their own templates; please see the sub-project pages for more detail.

If you're working in this project and you'd like to display the project's user participation badge on your user page (the badge is displayed to your right), add this code to your user page:
