Barbara A. Favola is a Democratic member of the Virginia State Senate, representing District 31. She was first elected to the chamber in 2011.


Barbara has served as a member of the Arlington County Board since 1997. She served as Chairman in 2000, 2004 and 2009 and Vice Chairman in 1999, 2003 and 2008.

On November 8, 2011, Favola won election to District 31 of the Virginia State Senate. She defeated Jaime Areizaga-Soto in the August 23 primary. Favola defeated Caren Merrick (R) in the November 8 general election.[1][2]
