Barbara Lifton is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 125 since 2003. Lifton has political experience as the treasurer of the 3rd Ward, Ithaca City Democratic Committee and member of the Democratic Response Group and Tompkins County Democratic Committee.

Lifton's professional experiences include chief of staff for New York State Assemblymember Marty Luster and an english teacher for Ithica Schools and Geneseo Central School.

Lifton earned her BA and MA in english from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She and her husband, Don, have three children; Christine, Paul, and Rebecca.[1]

Lifton ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 125. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. She also ran on the Working Families Party ticket. She was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
