Two Baroda Township Fire & Library Levy Increase measures was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Baroda, which is in Berrien County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to renew the current fire levy which is set at a rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for the fire protection and ambulance services in the township.

The second measure sought to renew the current library levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for the operational costs of the library in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Proposition I: Shall the previous voted increase in tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Baroda Township be renewed at up to one and one-half (1-1/2) mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period 2013 through 2016 inclusive for the purpose of providing fire protection and ambulance service in said Township; and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose thereby raising in the first year an estimated $129,900.00?

Proposition II: Shall the previous voted increase of up to .05 mill (50 cents per One Thousand Dollars of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution, be renewed for the period, 2013 through 2016 inclusive, for the purpose of providing Library Services to the residents of Baroda Township and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose thereby raising in the first year an estimated $ 43,300.00?[3]
