Benjie E. Wimberly (b. December 1, 1964) is a Democratic member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing District 35. He was first elected to the chamber in 2011.

Biography

Wimberly earned his B.A. in Sociology from Virginia State University. His professional experience includes serving as a Paterson Councilman,[1] working as a Coordinator for Joint Recreational Services for the Paterson public schools, as a teacher at Eastside High School and as a Director for the Paterson Division of Recreation.

Wimberly won re-election in the 2013 election for New Jersey General Assembly District 35. Wimberly was bracketed with Shavonda Sumter. He was unopposed in the June 4 Democratic primary. He and incumbent Shavonda Sumter (D) defeated Rhina Tavarez (R) and Maria del Pilar Rivas (R) in the general election, which took place on November 5, 2013.[2][3][4][5]

On November 8, 2011, Benjie Wimberly won election to District 35 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He and Shavonda Sumter were bracketed together and defeated Samuel Torres in the June 7 Democratic primary. They then defeated Donna Puglisi and William Connolly in the November 8 general election.[6]
