Berea City Charter Amendments, 2 (November 2011)

Two Berea City Charter Amendment measures were on the November 8, 2011 ballot in the city of Burea which is in Cuyahoga County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to amend the city charter so as require that the Finance Director have at least a Bachelors degree in the field as well as experience in the field.

  • NO 1,140 (19.9%)

The second measure sought to amend the city charter so as to increase the maximum expenditure amount required before the Board of Control needs notification.[1]

  • YES 2,862 (52.05%)Approveda
  • NO 2,637 (47.95%)[2]

Text of measure

Amendment 1 The question on the ballot:

Shall Section IX, Item 1(a) of the Charter of the City of Berea be amended to require the Director of Finance to have a Bachelor's or higher Degree in Finance or a related field and have knowledge and experience in finance, accounting, taxation, and business administration in a government setting?

Amendment 2 The question on the ballot:

Shall Section X, Item 4 of the Charter of the City of Berea be amended to increase the maximum amount of an expenditure requiring prior approval by the Board of Control from $1,000.00 to $2,500.00 and to increase the maximum amount of expenditures that may be approved or ratified by the Board of Control from $1,000.00 to $2,500.00?
