If voters approve it, a parcel tax will be imposed on real estate within the city. The amount of the tax will vary depending on the number of square feet. Altogether, the tax would raise about $604,000 each year for the City. The money, if the tax is approved, can only be used to support the operation and maintenance of a new Warm Water Pool and a new Willard Pool.
The fate of the pools parcel tax is tied to the fate of a different measure on the same November 6, 2012 ballot: the Berkeley Pools bond proposition. If one wins, and the other loses, they are both moot.
