Bert Johnson is a 2012 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 13th Congressional District of Michigan. He is currently a Democratic member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 2 since January 1, 2011. Prior to his time in the Senate, Bert served two terms in the Michigan House, representing District 5.

Biography

Prior to his time in the legislature, Bert served as office manager at his family's law firm. He was also the Chief of Staff to State Representative Bill McConico for over 5 years.

Bert received his education at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy and went on to become a Criminology and Security Administration major at the University of Detroit, Mercy.

Goci is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Michigan's 13th District. He faces incumbent John Conyers, Jr., Glenn Anderson, Shanelle Jackson, and John Goci in the Democratic primary. Harry T. Sawicki is running as the Republican candidate.

2010

Johnson won election to the 2nd District of the Michigan State Senate in 2010. He defeated Republican Don Chouinard in the November 2 general election.[1]
