Biography
Beth Wood grew up in eastern North Carolina on her family's farm near Cove City. She received a BS in accounting from East Carolina University in 1984 and became a certified public accountant three years later.
Wood has worked in both the state auditor's office and for the state treasurer and has 15 years of auditing experience. She left the auditor's office in 2007 to teach professional courses for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Immediately before her election, Wood worked for the American Institute of CPAs as a case investigator of allegedly sub-standard audits.[1][2]
