Bill Thomas is a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 5th District since 2005.

Thomas has worked as a fisherman since 1969, and previously was a lobbyist with Koukanan Incorporated from 1989-2004, and Vice President from 1977-1985.

Thomas is an honorary lifetime member of the American Legion, council member of the Chilkoot Indian Associations, lifetime member of United Fisherman of Alaska, and is on the Board of Directors of the Southeast Alaska Fisherman's Alliance.[1]

Issue positions

Thomas did not provide answers to the 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

  • HB 209 - "An Act providing for a surcharge on oil produced in the state and delivered to a state that imposes a tax on fuel delivered to this state."[3]

Thomas won re-election to the 5th District Seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the August 24 primary.[4] He defeated Robert Beedle in the November 2 general election.[5]

In 2008 Bill Thomas was re-elected to the Alaska House of Representatives District 5. Thomas (R) finished with 4,073 votes while his opponent Tim June (D) finished with 2,545 votes.[6] Thomas raised $53,801 for his campaign fund.[7]
