This measure sought to increase the current levy by a rate of $2 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of four years in order to help further reduce the debts in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall there be an increase of up to two (2.0) mills (that being $2.00 per thousand dollars of taxable value) in excess of the limitation on the amount of taxes that may be assessed on all real and personal property in the Township of Bingham, Clinton County, Michigan levied for a period of four (4) years, 2011 through 2014, inclusive, for debt reduction of the Township of Bingham, raising an estimated $210,000.00 in the first year the millage is levied? If approved, this would be a new additional millage.[3]
