Bolyn McClung ran for the District 6 seat on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board. He lost in a general election on November 5, 2013.


McClung has served five years in the U.S. Air Force and works in the printing industry. Some of McClung’s business and civic experience include serving as chair of the Pineville Zoning Board of Adjustments, serving as a board member for the Civic and Cultural Arts in Pineville and working on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee.[1]

McClung ran for the District 6 seat on the school board on November 5, 2013 against Paul Bailey and Doug Wrona.


McClung lost the general election on November 5, 2013.

McClung reported $11,337.26 in contributions and $8,372.23 in expenditures to the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, which left his campaign with $2,965.03 on hand.[2]


McClung did not received any official endorsements for his campaign.

What's at stake?

The District 6 seat was at stake as well as the financial security of the district. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools experienced budget difficulties in recent years and the board had recently developed a school bond plan to reopen and expand current schools after closing some in 2010.
