Brian Schoenjan is a Democratic member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 32 since 2013. He previously represented District 12 from 2005 to 2013. Schoenjahn was Mayor of Arlington from 1977 to 2004.

Schoenjahn earned his BA in Social Science from the University of Northern Iowa. He went on to earn his MA in Political Science from the University of Northern Iowa.

Schoenjahn was a teacher for Starmont Community Schools from 1972 to 2005.

Schoenjahn ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate in 2012. Due to redistricting, he ran in district 32. Schoenjahn ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012 and defeated Elliott Henderson in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

On November 4, 2008, Schoenjahn was re-elected to the 12th District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating Rebecca Wearmouth (R).[3] Schoenjahn raised $126,771 for his campaign, while Wearmouth raised $5,074. [4]
