Brian Vaeth is a 2014 Republican candidate for Governor of Maryland. He filed for election in May 2013, becoming the first Republican in the race. Current incumbent Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) is ineligible for re-election in 2014 because of term-limits. Vaeth's lieutenant gubernatorial running mate is Duane "Shorty" Davis.

He was formerly a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from Maryland. Vaeth was defeated by Dan Bongino in the Republican primary on April 3, 2012.[1]

Vaeth is running for election to the open seat of Governor of Maryland. Vaeth is seeking the Republican nomination in the primary on June 24, 2014. The general election takes place November 4, 2014. In Maryland, the governor and lieutenant governor are elected on the same ticket. Vaeth's lieutenant gubernatorial running mate is Duane "Shorty" Davis (R).[3]
