C. Robert Brawley is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 95. He was first elected to the chamber in 2012.

Brawley served in the House from 1981 to 1998 before leaving to focus on his business.[1][2]

Biography

Brawley received a Bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University in 1968. He is an insurance agent. Brawley was a helicopter pilot in the North Carolina National Guard.[3]

Finance chair resignation

In May 2013, Brawley resigned from his position of chairman of the Finance Committee.[4]

In his resignation letter, Brawley blamed state house speaker Thom Tillis, pointing to disputes the two officials have had during the 2013 session.[5][6]

Brawley ran in the 2012 election for North Carolina House of Representatives District 95. He defeated Charlton L. Allen and Marc Fasano in the Republican primary on May 8, 2012. He was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8]

Brawley credited what he called a positive "face to face" campaign for his primary victory.[1]

In his first House comeback attempt in 2006, Brawley lost to incumbent Karen Ray in the 95th District Republican primary.[2]

2004

Brawley unsuccessfully ran for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner in 2004.[2]
