The 34th congressional district of California will hold an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2014.

California is one of three states to use a blanket primary, or top-two system, which allows all candidates to run and all voters to vote but only moves the top two vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, to the general election.[1][2][3]

Heading into the election the incumbent is Xavier Becerra (D), who was first elected in 1992.

California's 34th Congressional District is located in the southern portion of the state and includes part of Los Angeles County.[4]
