23 statewide ballot propositions were on the November 3, 1936 ballot in California.

Comment from the Gridley Herald
  • 4 were approved.
  • 19 were defeated.

24 propositions were scheduled to be on the ballot, but Proposition 1 was removed from the ballot by a 6-1 vote of the California Supreme Court in late August 1936. The Los Angeles Times lauded the removal, saying, "The vicious single tax measure, camouflaged behind sales tax repeal, has been deservedly kicked off the November election ballot."[1]
