A California Pollution Producers To Pay for Pollution Mitigation Initiative (#11-0078, #11-0079) has been submitted to the Attorney General of California's office as a potential contender for the state's 2012 ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment.

Joseph Caves submitted two letters requesting ballot titles on two different versions of the proposed initiative. One version was filed on November 17, 2011 and one version was filed on November 18, 2011. The ballot titles and summaries are expected by January 12, 2012. Once those documents are issued, sponsors will have 150 days to collect 807,615 signatures to qualify the version of the proposed initiative they choose to circulate for the November 6, 2012 ballot.

Caves refers to each proposed measure as the "Polluter Accountability Act".
