Carl Heastie is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly. He has represented District 83 since 2001. Heastie has been a member of the Democratic State Committee since 1996. He was also the chair for the county elections committee for the Bronx Democratic Party from 1992-2000.

Heastie's professional experience is as a finance manager, account manager, and budget analyst.

Heastie earned a BS in applied mathematics and statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and is attending masters business administration at Bernard Baruch College, from the City University of New York.[1]

Heastie ran unopposed in the September 14 Democratic primary. He defeated Conservative Party candidate Patrick McManus and Green Party candidate Trevor Archer in the general election on November 2.[2] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he ran on the Working Familes ticket.

2008

On November 4, 2008 Heastie won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 83, defeating opponent Michel Blot (R).
