Carmen E. Arroyo (b. January 9, 1933) is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 84. She was first elected to the chamber in 1994 after winning a special election.

Arroyo previously served District 74 in the New York State Assembly from 1994-2002. Her political experience includes being a member and president of Community School Board #7, and a member of Community School Board #18.

Biography

Arroyo earned a secretarial-bookkeeper degree from Sixto Febus Business School in Puerto Rico, an AA degree from Eugenio Maria de Hostos Community College, and a B.A. in School of New Resources from the College of New Rochelle. [1] Her professional experience includes being the author of "Mis Poesias," and working as an Executive Director to the South Bronx Community Corporation.[2]

Arroyo ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 84. She defeated Maximino Rivera and Charles R. Serrano in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. She defeated Franklin Chidi Oleh in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [3][4]
