Catharine Young is a Republican member of the New York State Senate, representing District 57. She was first elected to the chamber in 2005.

Young served as member/Majority Whip for Cattaraugus County Legislature. She also served in the New York State Assembly from 1998 to 2005. During this time she served as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore.

Biography

Young attended the State University of New York-Fredonia, and earned her BA in Mass Communication from Saint Bonaventure University. Her professional experience includes working as a News Reporter, and as a Teacher of Leadership and Communication. She is currently Director of Communications and Development for a Rehabilitation Center. She served as a Major in the Civil Air Patrol for the United States Air Force.

She also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Young was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [1][2]
