Charles Bishop was a Republican member of the Alabama State Senate, representing the 5th District from 2006 to 2010. His district covers portions of Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston counties. He previously served in the Alabama State Senate from 1983-1990.

Bishop was eligible for re-election but did not run in 2010. He instead ran for District 14 of the Alabama House of Representatives. He was defeated in the June 1 primary by Richard Baughn.


On November 7, 2006, Bishop won election to the 5th District Seat in the Alabama State Senate, defeating opponent Larry B. Cagle (D).[1]
