Charleta B. Tavares (b. 1956) is a Democratic member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 15. She was elected to the chamber in 2010.

Tavares served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1993 to 1998.

Biography

Tavares attended Spelman College and Ohio State University. She has worked as a legislative assistant and the head of the Children's Protection Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office. Tavares served on the Columbus City Council from 1999 to 2010. She is currently the Executive Director of Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence.
