A Chester Township Road Levy Renewal measure is on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Chester, which is in Ottawa County.

This measure seeks to renew the current road levy which is set at a rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for road construction and maintenance cots in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previously voted increase of 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value), in the tax limitation, imposed under Article IX Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution, as reduced by the required millage rollback which last resulted in a levy of 1.4875 mills ($1.4875 per $1,000 of taxable value) upon taxable property within the Township of Chester, Ottawa County, Michigan, which expires in 2012, be renewed at the original voted 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) for levy in the years 2013 through 2016, inclusive, for the purpose of road construction and maintenance; and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby, raising in the first year an estimated $114,723?[2]
