A Chimacum School District Levy Addition measure was on the February 14, 2012 ballot in the Chimacum school district area which is in Jefferson County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 2,558 (60.88%)Approveda
  • NO 1,644 (39.12%)[1]

This measure sought to add to the current school property tax by a set rate for a period of six years in order to pay for school facility repair projects in the district. Since it was approved, district officials noted that the tax could raise up to $7,950,000 over the six year period.[2]

The question on the ballot:

The Board of Directors of Chimacum School District No. 49 adopted Resolution No. 2011-6 authorizing the capital projects levies. This levy funds the renovation, upgrading and modernization of educational facilities of the District, including technology improvements, and authorizes the following excess levies on all taxable property within the District: Collection Years: 2013-2018; Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value: $.813, $.808, $.844, $.839, $.833, $.828; Levy Amount:$1,325,000.
