A Chippewa County Board Reduction Question was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in Chippewa County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 14,423 Approveda
  • NO 5,243[1]

This measure sought to reduce the number of members on the county board from 29 members to 15.[2] This issue was brought to a vote by a successful petition drive which wanted to reduce the number of council members in order to reduce the costs of the county. Opponents said 29 members are needed to run the county where as proponents said the board no longer needs so many people. Opponents also noted that the government would still have the same programs and departments so reduction was not the answer; it would just give more work to fewer people.[3]
