Miller ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Illinois' 12th District. Miller sought the nomination on the Democratic ticket. [4] The signature filing deadline was December 27, 2011, with the primary taking place on March 20, 2012.

Miller and candidate Kenneth Wiezer were defeated by Brad Harriman in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012. [1] In the Republican primary candidate Jason Plummer defeated Rodger Cook and Theresa Kormos.[1]
