Chris Stewart is a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 2nd Congressional District of Utah.

Biography

Stewart graduated from Utah State University. After serving as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force for fourteen years, Stewart went on to become a small-business owner and author of several books. He and his wife, Evie, have six children.[1]

Campaign themes

According to Stewart's website, his campaign themes include:

  • Medicare: "...implementing free market reforms, the cost of Medicare can be contained while Americans are assured they will have access to quality medical coverage when they enter retirement age."
  • Tax code: "The current tax code is unjustifiably complex and unfair. It is designed to benefit those who have the money to pay lawyers and accountants and to disadvantage those who are trying to play by the rules."
  • Immigration: "Because of this failure, illegal immigration has become a national security threat."[2]

Stewart is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Utah's 2nd District. Stewart defeated Jason Buck, Dave Clark, Cherilyn Eagar, Howard Wallack, Chuck Williams, John Willoughby, Milton Hanks, Edward Mayerhofer, Jeramey McElhaney, and Bob Fuehr in the Republican convention.[3] The general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[4]
