Christopher Collins is the District 3 member of the Springfield School Committee. He was first elected to the chamber in 2007 and is running for re-election in a general election on November 5, 2013.


Christopher Collins resides in Springfield, Massachusetts. Collins earned a B.S. and an M.S. from Westfield State University before beginning his career as an educator.[1] He spent more than 35 years as a teacher, insurance administrator and principal in Springfield Public Schools before reaching retirement.[2]

As of September 24, Christopher Collins has reported no contributions or expenditures, leaving his campaign with $2,295.16 on hand remaining from his previous campaigns.[3]

What's at stake?

There are six seats on the school board up for election on November 5, 2013. All six incumbents are seeking re-election to the board and four of them are facing challengers. Barbara Gresham and Christopher Collins are running unopposed to retain their District 2 and 3 seats, respectively. Denise M. Hurst and Antonette E. Pepe are attempting to fend off challenges to their at-large seats from Calvin McFadden and Brenden J. Hammerle. District 1 incumbent Norman Roldan is running against newcomer Rosa Perez, and District 4 incumbent Peter M. Murphy is facing a challenge from Zaida Govan.
