Charles Rufus "Chuck" Reed (born August 15, 1948) is the 64th Mayor of San Jose, California. He was first elected to this role on November 7, 2006.[1]

Reed was raised in Garden City, Kansas. He attended the United States Air Force Academy and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Reed earned a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a law degree from Stanford Law School.[2]

San Jose City Council

Reed was elected to a seat on the San Jose City Council from the Berryessa District (District 4) in 2000. He ran again in 2004 and was re-elected.

Mayoral election 2006

Reed was elected to his first term as Mayor of San Jose on November 7, 2006.[1]

Mayoral election 2010

Reed was re-elected to a second four-year term on June 8, 2010.[3]

Personal

Reed is married to Paula Reed; she manages a medical clinic that specializes in cancer treatment. They are the parents of two children, Kim and Alex.[2]
