City of Vernon Business License Tax Increase, Measure K (April 2013)
- Increased the tax rate of the city's existing business license tax. The city sets out a number of different types of businesses, when it comes to assessing taxes on them. The tax rate for a business license for each type of business was increased under Measure K.
- Made several changes in how the tax is calculated.
The City of Vernon has many businesses (about 1,800) and very few residents (112 as of the 2010 census).
It is expected that Measure K will generate $4.5 million a year in new business license tax revenues to the city.
The question on the ballot:
|Measure K: "Shall an ordinance be adopted to increase the rates of the City's existing business license taxes and to modify the method for calculating such taxes?"|
