If passed, the measure, which is sponsored by [[Jonathan Singer|Rep. Jonathan Singer]] (D-11), would implement a 10% sales tax. This is in addition to the standard 2.9% state sales tax and any local taxes that may apply. The revenue would be used to fund the regulation and monitoring of the marijuana retail business. Another measure, the [[Colorado Marijuana Excise Tax, HB 1318 (2013)|Colorado Marijuana Excise Tax]], is also being sent to the [[BC2013#November|November]] ballot as a result HB 1318's passage.
