A Colorado Religious Freedom Amendment may appear on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Colorado as an initiated constitutional amendment. The measure would ban the state from interfering with freedom of religion. The language of the proposed ballot question mandates that the state government should not burden a person or organization by withholding benefits, assessing penalties or excluding a person or group from government programs or facilities because of religion.[1]

Path to the ballot

Supporters of the measure have to collect at least 85,853 valid signatures by the August 6, 2012 petition drive deadline in order to make the November 6, 2012 general election ballot.
