Stewart is seeking the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.[1] Incumbent Lt. Gov Bill Bolling (R) is not running for re-election, leaving the seat open in 2013.

The statewide primary convention will take place on May 17-18, 2013.

At the convention, delegates from the Republican Party of Virginia will nominate its candidates for governor, lt. governor, and attorney general. The candidate in each field who receives the highest number of delegate votes at the convention will advance to the November 5, 2013 general election.

Stewart and his wife, Maria, live in Woodbridge, Virginia. They have two sons and are parishoners at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.[2]
