There is a current petition drive to get a County Government Change Referendum on the Arlington County ballot in the next year.

The Arlington Professional Firefighters and Parademics Association has filed for a petition to get a vote on changing the county government from a county manager type of government to a county board type of government. This wold mean that a Board of Supervisors would be created and would be elected from districts within the county and not at large. The Board Chairman would be elected by the other members of the board. In order to pass, the petition needs 130,000 registered Arlington voters and the group has nine months to collect these signatures. The group behind this petition drive see this as a way to make the county government more accountable for their actions.[1]

Signers of the petition are being told that the petition is a public document, so anyone can view who signed.[2]
