Courtney Malveaux is the 17th and current Virginia Commissioner of Labor and Industry. He was first appointed on May 3, 2010 by Governor Bob McDonnell.[1][2]

Biography

Malveaux earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University, a master's from George Washington University, and a law degree from the William and Mary School of Law.

In addition to teaching as an adjust law professor in Virginia, Malveaux lectures on topics related to labor and employment law at various campuses in Virginia and he authored an article in the University of Richmond Law Review.[2] He previously served as president of the Hill-Tucker Bar Association.

Commissioner of Labor and Industry (2010-Present)

Malveaux was sworn in as the 17th Virginia Commissioner of Labor and Industry on May 3, 2010. He was appointed to the statewide position by Governor Bob McDonnell.[3] In his capacity as commissioner, Malveaux is the head of the Department of Labor and Industry, which administers and enforces occupational safety and occupational health activities as prescribed by law.[4]
