Curtis McDaniel (b. January 17, 1952) is a Democratic member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing District 1. McDaniel was first elected in the February 14, 2012 special election. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Rusty Farley (R) passed away on July 4, 2011. McDaniel was sworn in on February 22, 2012.[1][2]

He is the current Minority Caucus Secretary.


McDaniel has a Bachelors in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University in 1975 and a MEd in Administration from Oklahoma State Univerity in 1998.

McDaniel ran for re-election to Oklahoma House District 1. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 26, 2012. He was unchallenged in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]

McDaniel defeated Joe M. Silk (R), Bethany Farley (I), and James Skipper (I) in the special election on February 14, 2012. McDaniel garnered 61.8% of the vote. Both major party candidates won contested primaries on November 8, 2011. [5][6][7]
