|Bachelor's||Louisiana State University|
|Profession||Public Relations Director for the City of Mansfield|
Williams currently serves as Public Relations Director for the City of Mansfield and has worked as a journalist for The Shreveport Times, the Forum News and The Tribune.
Williams ran in the 2011 election for Louisiana House of Representatives District 7. She lost to incumbent Richard Burford (R) in the primary election on October 22, 2011. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary.
On her campaign website Williams outlines two main issues. Here are excerpts:
- Quality Public Education - "Louisiana must have a first class education system to provide our children the skills to compete in a global economy...I believe in equal opportunities for ALL to receive a quality public education, from early childhood through college. I believe improving public education is more than a constitutional obligation - it is economically imperative."
- Building Tomorrow’s Jobs through Clean Energy - "Natural gas is a clean energy source that if fully developed can provide our state and nation with the energy infrastructure necessary to power the needs of future generations. Clean, abundant, inexpensive energy will become an increasing important consideration as businesses decide where to locate."
Williams received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University. She is married and has two children, Justin and Cody.
