Dan Muhlbauer is a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives. He has represented the 51st District since January 10, 2011.

Muhlbauer owns and operates a family farm with his wife, Patti and sons, David and Robert. He previously served in the Iowa House from 1983 to 1993, and was a Crawford County Supervisor from 2004 to 2009. He has also served on the boards of a number of community organizations, e.g. the Crawford Co. Development Corporation, Youth Emergency Services in Cherokee, IA, and West Central Community Action in the town of Harlan. Muhlbauer and his wife, Patti, have three adult children.

Muhlbauer won election to the Iowa House of Representatives, defeating Daniel D. Dirkx (R) in the November 2 general election.[1]

Muhlbauer was nominated for the 51st House district seat July 19th in a special convention. The convention was called because Democrat Larry Lesle dropped out of the race before the primary. [2]
