Dan Newhouse is a former Director of Agriculture for Washington state. He was first appointed by Governor Christine Gregoire on February 18, 2009. He previously served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2003-2009.[1]

On April 1, 2013, Newhouse was succeeded by Donald "Bud" Hover, who was appointed the new Director of Agriculture by Gov. Jay Inslee on March 12, 2013.[2] See also: Gov. Inslee appoints new Washington Director of Agriculture

Biography

Newhouse and his wife, Carol, operate a farm, producing hops, tree fruit, grapes and alfalfa.[1] His father, Irv, served in the Washington State Legislature for 34 years, the Senate building is named after him. Dan was first elected to the state House in 2002 and served until he was named state Director of Agriculture in 2009.[3]
