A vote about whether to recall Dave Hammers, Bill Beahan, and Jan Cederberg from their positions on the Cherokee Metropolitan Water District Board of Directors in El Paso County, Colorado is scheduled for May 22nd, 2012. [1] In 2010, Robert Lovato was recalled from the water board.

Reasons for recall

The Concerned Citizens Group is behind the recall effort. Recall supporters blame the targeted officials for causing people in the district to have less water at higher rates. Cederberg said, "the charges against us include secret meetings, bonding issues and getting rid of previous management, which isn’t true." The board recently approved a $15 million pipeline project that will be financed by municipal bonds. [1]

Path to the ballot

The recall process was initiated in late 2011, and petitions were approved on February 14th, 2012. 300 signatures were needed for each recall target. Sufficient signatures were certified on March 12th. [1]
