David Ainsworth (b. July 8, 1954) is a former Republican member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Windsor-Orange-1 from 2007 to 2010.

Ainsworth has served as the Town Moderator for the Town of Royalton since 1990. He was a candidate for the Vermont State House of Representatives in 2004 but was not elected. He then joined the Vermont House in 2007. He has served in that position since, representing the Windsor-Orange-1 District.

Ainsworth has worked as a Vegetable Grower/Marketer and as a Dairy Farmer.

Ainsworth earned his B.S. from the University of Vermont in 1977.

Ainsworth ran for election in the 2012 election for Vermont House of Representatives Windsor-Orange 1. Ainsworth was unopposed in the August 28 Republican primary and was defeated by incumbent Sarah Buxton (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

Ainsworth ran for re-election to the Windsor-Orange 1 District in 2010. He ran against Sarah Buxton (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010. According to unofficial results Ainsworth was defeated, but as of November 15 a recount is pending.[3]
