David Blount (b. July 19, 1967) is a Democratic member of the Mississippi State Senate, representing the 29th Senatorial District.

Blount joined the Mississippi State Senate in 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 29th district.

Blount is a past Communications Director for the Mississippi Secretary of State's Office.

Blount attended both the University of Virginia and Davidson College.

Blount won re-election to the Mississippi Senate District 29. He ran unopposed in the primary on August 2, 2011. Steve Stanford defeated Gerald Kucia in the Republican primary. Blount defeated Stanford in the general election on November 8, 2011. [1]
