David Hartsuch was a Republican member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 41. Hartsuch joined the Iowa State Senate in 2007 and served until 2010. He also ran for the United States House of Representatives, District 1, in 2008.

Hartsuch earned his BA in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. He went on to receive his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. He then earned his MD from the University of Minnesota.

Hartsuch is an Emergency Medicine Physician. He has also worked as an accountant.

In the June 8th primary elections, Hartsuch was defeated by Republican primary opponent Roby Smith by a margin of 2,477-2,303.[1]


On November 7, 2006, Hartsuch was elected to the 41st District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating Phyllis Thede (D). [2] Hartsuch raised $79,386 for his campaign, while Thede raised $9,906. [3]
