David Johnson is a Republican member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 3. Johnson served in the Iowa State House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. He joined the Iowa State Senate in 2003 and has served in that position since. He is currently State Senate Assistant Minority Leader.

Johnson earned his BA in History from Beloit College in 1973.

Johnson has worked as a Newspaper Publisher/Editor and a Dairy Farmer.
